How do you improve upon something as remarkable as the Lincoln Aviator? The simple answer is by thinking outside of the box. When developing the 2018 Aviator, the leaders behind designing the Aviator sought to improve upon the driving experience. In so doing, an idea emerged to recruit the expertise of artists known worldwide for their intense devotion to their craft and an ardent desire to push the envelope, creating a paradigm shift that alters how we view the world.
That is how the winning collaboration between the Lincoln Aviator and Detroit Symphony Orchestra was formed. And after many miles, it's a collaboration that is one for the history books.
Creative Beginnings
The Detroit Symphony Orchestra responded with enthusiasm, quickly agreeing to work with the masterful minds behind the Aviator to deliver world-class innovation that changed the game.
With any creative endeavor, having the right muse will give you the jumpstart needed to succeed. While the Aviator was in production, the creative minds of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra spent time inside the Lincoln Continental, absorbing the elegance and ambiance of this unique vehicle. It was the inspiration needed to push beyond the limitations and begin creating something truly unique for the automotive world.
 
Tones that Changed the World
Known for its elegance and sophistication, the Lincoln Aviator offers various features that elevate your driving experience to greater heights. One such feature is its chime. This feature delivers various sounds, alerting you to important vehicle and safety information so that you stay informed without taking your eyes off the road. Sometimes, it's the little things that matter most. But with the Lincoln Aviator, even the small things will make a big difference.
Finding the right harmony was an intense process. Through multiple sessions with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and our Lincoln experts, we slowly created a sound palette that best represents the elegance and class behind the Aviator. It's in these sounds that we found the Aviator's voice, giving you more reason to experience the perfection inherent in this world-renowned luxury SUV.
 
The Final Result
After countless hours of worthwhile work and effort, and after creating over 100 unique sounds, we found what we were looking for to elevate the Aviator. Led by three incredible musicians from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Adrienne Ronmark (violin), Eric Nowlin (principal viola), and Joseph Becker (principal percussion), we created six new chimes. The hundreds of musical combinations provided the perfect foundation for an auditory experience you can't find anywhere else. Ultimately, the six new chimes best represent the character, ambiance, innovation, and presence of the Lincoln Aviator.
